The decline of the PC appears to be accelerating as even mobile PCs go into the same spiral of decline as desktops.

8 out of the top 9  mobile PC brands slashed July LCD panel orders by 18% compared to June and by 23% according to July last year, says IHS

Q3 is normally when LCD orders increase to deal with H2 new model launches. However a lousy H1 means mobile PC manufacturers have high inventories.

Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba all cut LCD demand compared to July 2012 with Acer, Lenovo, HP, Dell and Toshiba cutting orders by double-digit percentages

Acer’s July LCD orders were  53% down on June;  Toshiba’s were down 43%; Dell’s down 36%; Lenovo’s down 35%; and HP’s down 20%.
