Although Apple is selling twice as many tablets as its nearest rival, Samsung, its market share has dropped to 43% vs the Android collective, says Canalys.

Canalys says shipments of iPads and iPad Minis have declined 14%in the last year, while Lenovo and Acer each grew by over 200%.

Q2 sales of tablets were :

Apple 14.6
Samsung 7.4
Amaxon 1.6
Lenovo 1.5
Acer 1.5

Branded Android tablets are on sale for under £130.

“We expect to see a substantial increase in the quantity, as well as the quality, of apps built or optimised for Android tablets over the next 12 months, as Google brings more attention to them through improvements to the Play store, and as the addressable base of devices continues to soar,’ said Canalys Senior Analyst Tim Shepherd.
